The Castle in Hora and Glezos (Crispi) Tower Location: Chora Border tower protecting the Castle of Sanoudos in Hora. The wall surrounding the fortress is pentagonal and has three gates. Glezos Tower (Crispi) stands near the northwestern gate and extends in part along the western and northern side of the Castle. It has four floors and it is the only castle in Naxos Island with a round tower attached to it. Himarrou Fortress Location: In Filoti area Between Mt. Zas and the sea. One of the most important monuments of Naxos. It is has a circular plan, 9.20m diameter and 15 metres height. Barotsi - Frangopoulou - Gratsia Tower Location:Chalki 17th century 3 floors tower. Frangopoulou - Delaroka Tower Location: Kourounohori (close to Melanes) The place where Krispos murdered Duke Karkeri. Palaiologos Tower Location:Sagri Valley 17th century tower with a chapel next to it. Portara Location: Chora The "trade mark" of Naxos Island. A huge portal of Temple of Apollo, built on the orders of tyrant Lygdamis in the 6th century BC, but never completed. Portara exactly faces the sacred island of Delos. Temple of Demetra Location: Sagri The temple dates back to the time of the tyrant of Naxos, Lygdamis (circa. 530 BC) and it was part of his ambitious building programme, comparable to that of the Athenian Peisistratos. Iria Location: Near Agios Arsenios A sacred place of the Aegean which dates back, to prehistoric times -1300 BC. Kalamitsia Palace Location:Melanes The holidays palace of Jesuits in a fertile valley.
